The Left-handers Africa

No Hand Shaming

Our Key Mission

Left-handers Africa is a non-profit, with an agenda to mitigate discriminatory practices against left-handers. We organize and collaborate through advocacy campaigns, to end all forms of violence in communities. We carry out our mission, by leveraging traditional and new media, organizing community sensitization campaigns, donating educational resources to communities, and through an annual event, in commemoration of world lefthanders day.

Our Annual Targets

  • We set a goal to reach 15,000-50,000 homes through sensitization campaigns, leveraging new and traditional media.
  • We seek to impact homes, schools, and communities through virtual or in-person training geared at helping them understand why some children become left-handed and should not be discriminated against.
  • We donate 1,000-100,000 copies of our books, The Thriving Left-hander and Unseen Scars of Stigma, to individuals and groups who need the message of hope to transform their lives and ignite transformation in others and in their communities
Our Impact Delivery Systems

To effectively execute our objectives, we use research tools with the aim of understanding perceptions of left-handedness in communities. Next, we intervene in those communities, leveraging using creativity. For instance, our educational resources are designed using relatable stories, that people can connect with. We also leverage new media,  using creatively designed graphics and posters.

We also enhance our campaigns, by collaborating with community gatekeepers. We believe that to achieve our set objectives, of reducing left-hand shaming, we must identify, and work with people in the communities, we seek to impact.

Furthermore, we carry out advocacy work, employing what we have designed through research, creative inputs of our team, as well as community gatekeepers.
